Worth Writing Home About
Dear Mama,
I’ve met a girl.
Not just any girl.
A great girl.
No, I don’t want to marry her
I mean, maybe if I could.
But not in a – let’s have babies – kind of way
In a – her soul mirrors a piece of mine – type of way
You see, Mama
She called me the other day,
We just joked
gossiped
talked to our hearts content,
But when it was over she said,
‘Okay, I love you, I’ll call you later’
You see, Mama
We didn’t talk for a while,
And I thought,
Maybe I had done something wrong.
I knew she was busy, and so was I
but I couldn’t get the thought out of my head, that
maybe she had realized I’m too much,
And decided to move on
But she called me later
And when she went to hang up she said,
‘Okay, I love you, I’ll call you later’
You see, Mama,
We see each other all the time,
and even if it’s one a month or once a week,
it feels like we never missed a day.
It doesn’t matter where we go
Or What we do
but when I get out of the car she says,
‘Okay, I love you, I’ll call you later’
You see, Mama
She’s worth writing home about
She’s worth making sure you know her name
Because I’ll be talking about her all the time.
She’s worth writing home about
Because she thinks I’m worth knowing,
Worth loving.
So you see, Mama,
I met a girl.
Okay, I love you. I’ll call you later.
